INSTALLATION
------------

1.) The WinOncore12 V1.2 release consists of the following
files:

Filename Motorola Software Part Number
------------------------- -----------------------------
WinOncore12_1_2.exe 61-G10382A
readme.txt (this file) 82-G10386A

2.) The PC should have a minimum of 20 MBytes free disk
space and should be running Windows 95 (or later) or
Windows NT.

3.) To un-zip the WinOncore12 software, double-click on
the WinOncore12_1_2.exe icon. The executable file is a
self-extracting WinZip file, and all un-zipped files will
be copied to

C:\Program Files\Motorola\WinOncore12\Temp

The folder will be created if it does not exist.

4.) To install the WinOncore12 software, double-click on
the Setup.exe icon in the Temp folder. The executable file
is an InstallShield setup launcher, and all WinOncore12
program files will be copied to

C:\Program Files\Motorola\WinOncore12

Once installation is complete, the Temp folder and all of
its contents may be removed (if desired), or the folder may
be saved for later re-installation.

5.) To start the WinOncore12 software, double-click the
WinOncore12.exe icon in the WinOncore12 folder.

ENHANCEMENTS
------------
1.) WinOncore12 V1.2 allows the user to enter a reference
point. Further, WinOncore12 V1.2 will compute the north,
east, and up offsets and the program will display the
information in the Navigation Window and output the offsets
to the .ps8 and .p12 files. [GPS00000310]

2.) WinOncore12 V1.2 allows the program to save the
reference point upon close of the program, and WinOncore12
V1.2 will restore the reference point upon startup.
[GPS00000469]

3.) WinOncore12 V1.2 allows the program to display the
height and north, east, and up offsets in feet as well as
meters. [GPS00000470]

4.) WinOncore12 V1.0 will send a suite of I/O commands to
the Motorola GPS receiver upon startup of the WinOncore12
program. Unfortunately, the initial I/O commands could
alter the configuration of the user settings in the
Motorola GPS receiver. WinOncore12 V1.2 prevents the
program from automatically sending the suite of I/O
commands upon startup of the WinOncore12 program.
[GPS00000476]

5.) WinOncore12 V1.2 allows the user to send the suite of
I/O commands that were disabled in the above entry by
simply pressing the Demo button instead. [GPS00000477]

6.) WinOncore12 V1.0 sends both 8- and 12-channel message
requests for certain controller commands. For example, the
12-channel controller command "ps12 1 f" sends the @@Ha 12-
channel position/status/data message request and the @@Ea
8-channel position/status/data message request as well.
WinOncore12 V1.2 prevents the program from sending both 8-
and 12-channel message requests upon one single user
command. [GPS00000503]

7.) WinOncore12 V1.2 adds several 8-channel controller
commands that were missing from WinOncore12 V1.0: ah,
leapsec, and ph. [GPS00000505]

8.) WinOncore12 V1.0 sometimes fails to update the fix
type from 2D to 3D upon a reported 3D fix. The Motorola
GPS receiver status indicates a 3D fix but the Navigation
window still indicates a 2D fix. This problem has been
fixed in WinOncore12 V1.2. [GPS00000650]

9.) WinOncore12 V1.2 allows the user to record the 12-
channel Time RAIM Status message (@@Hn) to a file, and the
file extension is .t12. [GPS00000651]

10.) WinOncore12 V1.0 decodes the 8-channel Time RAIM
(@@En) message and displays this data to the Timing Window.
WinOncore12 V1.2 allows the program to decode the 12-
channel Time RAIM (@@Hn) message and display the data to
the Timing Window as well. The Timing Dialog that set the
timing parameters for the 8-channel Time RAIM message was
also modified to perform the 12-channel Time RAIM setup.
[GPS00000712]

11.) WinOncore12 V1.2 adds the following controller
commands and Motorola binary messages: a.) tr12en and @@Ge
for the Time RAIM enable message and b.) trmalrm and @@Gf
for the Time RAIM alarm message. [GPS00000752]

12.) WinOncore12 V1.2 allows the program to recognize
comment lines in the macro file to aid in user
documentation. Lines with "//" in columns one and two are
considered comment lines and are ignored by the program.
[GPS00000798]

13.) WinOncore12 V1.0 will not always properly display the
GMT hours and minutes in the Navigation Window. This
defect was noticed after explicitly setting the GMT to
local time for the 8-channel Motorola GPS receiver then
exiting and re-entering WinOncore12. The Navigation Window
displays the GMT properly after explicitly setting the GMT,
but the GMT displays zero hours and zero minutes when re-
entering the application. This has been fixed in
WinOncore12 V1.2. As part of this change, the controller
command "gmt" was also added. [GPS00000817]

14.) WinOncore12 V1.2 allows the user to poll the combined
position (@@Ga) and the combined time (@@Gb) using the
controller commands "compo" and "comtim" (respectively) for
the 12-channel Motorola GPS receivers. WinOncore12 V1.0
returns an error message when these commands are entered
without parameters. [GPS00000818]

15.) WinOncore12 V1.2 allows the NMEA message rate to
range from zero (polled) to one message every 9999 seconds.
WinOncore12 V1.0 limits the output rate to one message
every 255 seconds. [GPS00001070]

KNOWN ERRATA
------------

1.) The WinOncore12 program may occasionally miss binary
data while recording files. [GPS00000467]

2.) When replaying binary files through the WinOncore12
playback tool, the first few samples reported in the .p12
or .ps8 files for the north, east, and up offsets may be
incorrect. [GPS00000711]

3.) When replaying binary files through the WinOncore12
playback tool, constant north, east, and up offset values
may be reported in the .p12 or .ps8 files even though the
location is changing. [GPS00000711]

4.) When replaying binary files through the WinOncore12
playback tool, a small rounding error may be noticed in
north, east, and up offset values recorded in the .p12 and
.ps8 files. [GPS00000711]

5.) For some controller commands, the WinOncore12 program
may fail to properly check and process invalid command
parameters. For example, if the user enters the controller
command "mask b", the WinOncore12 program will not reject
the bogus parameter and will instead issue the mask command
with a value of zero. [GPS00000797]

6.) When replaying binary files through the WinOncore12
playback tool, the WinOncore12 program may not parse
negative temperature values correctly. [GPS00000853]

7.) The WinOncore12 program may not blank channel data
when SVID 0 is reported. As always, when SVID is zero, no
satellite is being tracked on that channel, and any data
associated with that channel (mode, signal strength, etc.)
should be ignored. [GPS00000994]

8.) If the Oncore.syn file is accidentally deleted, then
the WinOncore12 program will crash if the user enters
either leap12, leapsec, mask, or mode. Use Oncore.syn.bak
to restore the file. [GPS00001073]

9.) WinOncore12 NMEA dialog box will not send NMEA
messages upon OK unless a Motorola GPS receiver is attached
and outputting data. If the Motorola GPS receiver is
attached and communicating with the WinOncore12 program,
the batch NMEA messages are sent correctly. [GPS00001077]

10.) The WinOncore12 program About box Help button does
not work. From the menu bar, select "Help" then "Help
Topics" instead. [GPS00001080]
